With more than 40 beds, our facility is one of the largest and most sophisticated intensive care units in the country that is dedicated solely to the care of critically ill children who have acquired and congenital heart conditions.With decades of collective experience, our team has the expertise to care for some of the most complex cases in the world, annually caring for more than 1,000 patients who just had cardiac surgery or who need non-surgical treatment for acquired or congenital heart disease. The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Boston Children’s Hospital is a 22-bed facility dedicated to the care of children with a wide range of critical illness diagnoses including respiratory failure (severe breathing problems), sepsis (serious infection), nutritional failure, poisoning, congenital anomalies, and life-threatening complications of metabolic diseases and endocrine disorders.Key Responsibilities:Caring for patients with respiratory insufficiency and/or failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, asthma, heart failure, sepsis, metabolic crisis, and those experiencing medically fragile/technology dependent co-morbidities.Providing care to medical patients with life-threatening and/or potentially life threatening conditions across the age continuum.Working in a collaborative environment with opportunities for both learning and career growth.Practicing family centered care in an ICU environment.40 hours/week, rotating days/nights and every third weekend.*Start date for this position is Winter 2025*Minimum QualificationsEducation:BSN requiredExperience:A minimum of 1 year pediatric experience, ICU preferred.Adult ICU or equivalent experience with mechanically ventilated patients strongly considered.Pediatric experience preferred but not required.Licensure/ Certifications:Massachusetts RN LicensureSign On Bonus:This position is eligible for a $10,000.00 sign-on bonus (not eligible for internal candidates and not eligible for former BCH employees who worked here in the past 2 years).

Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced RN to join our Central Staffing Office/ ICU Float pool to meet the ever-changing staffing needs across the Critical Care and Cardiovascular program.Key ResponsibilitiesProviding competent nursing care to critically ill patients (newborn – adult) and their families across all 4 ICUs (Medical ICU, Medical/Surgical ICU, Neonatal ICU and Cardiac ICU).Delivering family-centered care as a member of a multidisciplinary team.Working in a fast paced, collaborative environment with many opportunities for learning and career growth with comprehensive orientation to meet individual needs.
