CCS is a long-standing and nationally-regarded inpatient service in Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Division of General Pediatrics that serves hospitalized children with medical complexity, who have complex chronic conditions and functional limitations. Common reasons for admission to CCS include infections (aspiration pneumonia, pyelonephritis), chronic condition exacerbations (epilepsy, digestive dysmotility), and post-operative recovery following surgery (baclofen pump placement, gastrostomy, spinal fusion, etc.). Department SummaryOur 30-bed MSICU cares for medical and surgical patients ranging from newborn to early adult. The patient population is diverse with a variety of medical and surgical needs. Our newborn population primarily includes patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia or those needing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) soon after birth.
