Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Complex Care ServicesDepartment SummaryNurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to function in the inpatient Complex Care Service (CCS) at Boston Children’s Hospital. CCS is a long-standing and nationally-regarded inpatient service in Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Division of General Pediatrics that serves hospitalized children with medical complexity, who have complex chronic conditions and functional limitations. Common reasons for admission to CCS include infections (aspiration pneumonia, pyelonephritis), chronic condition exacerbations (epilepsy, digestive dysmotility), and post-operative recovery following surgery (baclofen pump placement, gastrostomy, spinal fusion, etc.). This role will provide patient evaluation, assessment, and facilitate care for the patients on the CCS service, and will implement interventions tailored to improve systems for patient care and enhance patient safety for this population. The CCS NP/PA will work collaboratively with supervising physicians, pediatric trainees (residents and fellows), and the entire nursing team to promote optimal clinical care. This NP/PA will act as a clinical resource, facilitating staff educational opportunities. The setting is fast-paced and collaborative with many opportunities for learning. Requirements include completion of a master’s degree program in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies. Department Summary:Boston Children's Hospital's Department of Emergency Medicine provides 24-hour care to infants, children and young adults with urgent and emergency medical, surgical and traumatic conditions, ranging from brain injuries to broken bones.We accept all Emergency Department (ED) patients from birth through 21 years of age. Caring for 68,000 patients with emergency medical needs each year, our ED is one of the largest emergency/trauma centers in New England and the largest pediatric ED in Massachusetts.
