About the UnitThe Critical Care Unit (CCU) is an 18-bed mixed ICU managing adult surgical, trauma, neuro, medical, and cardiothoracic/vascular patients. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:2 and adjusted for acuity throughout the shift. We have residents and attendings present for both shifts to support continued medical care and treatment. We utilize IABP, CRRT, EEG-continuous monitoring, Acumen IQ, ICP monitoring, BIS monitoring, and TTM devices.About Corewell Health South – Lakeland HospitalsThe health system comprises three hospitals, an outpatient surgery center, a regional cancer center, rehabilitation centers, two long-term care residences, home care and hospice services, and 34 affiliate physician practice locations. We provide both inpatient and outpatient medical services throughout Southwest Michigan.Scope of WorkThe Graduate Nurse plays a key role in the delivery of caring, competent patient care in conjunction with a mentoring Registered Nurse. Will perform assessments in an ongoing and systematic manner, formulate a goal directed plan of care and implement delegated interdependent and independent direct care activities based on skills learning and clinical training, assessment findings and evaluation of any previous interventions. Collaborates with mentoring RN on the nursing process, supporting documentation and other items as appropriate.It is expected that Graduate Nurses will successfully obtain certification/licensure from the State of Michigan and transition into a Registered Nurse role within 60 days.
