Experience or ‘Must have’ skills Must have total joint experience. Understanding of PCA pumps, reversal drugs (narcan), sepsis management. Experience with TPN/ Lipids. Narcotic usage. 1 year of experience- surgical experience required. Are RN’s required to titrate drips : Heparin. Common titratable &/or set rate drips Titrated per protocol. Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit Are RN’s required to read their own strips What brand are the tele monitors There is a tele monitor tech that monitors. RNs to interpret strips. Draeger Shifts starting at 7. Will not guarantee block scheduling. Discuss with leader for any scheduling needs. Schedules out 6 weeks in advance. Weekend Requirements Every other weekend. Sat. Sun for both shifts. Holiday Requirements In the holiday rotation with core staff Is there Call or a Standby requirement none Floating Requirements Float to like units only. If floated to higher acuity it would be to work as a help all and not take a patient load. Unit/Department Specific Orientation 1- 12 hour shift on shift of hire and unit of hire. First day is 12-14 hours to do comps, computer based modules, general orientation. Additional Notes fast paced, heavy patients.
