This role involves developing individualized care plans, providing wound care treatments, educating patients and families, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote optimal healing and prevent complications.Essential Work Functions:Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' wounds, including measuring wound dimensions, assessing tissue type, and evaluating signs of infection or delayed healingCreate and execute individualized treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic wounds, pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, and other conditionsProvide education to patients and their families on wound prevention, proper wound care techniques, and strategies to promote healingAdminister wound care treatments, including debridement, dressing changes, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), and application of advanced wound productsCollaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure wound care aligns with overall treatment goalsProvide wound care in a variety of environments, including hospitals, outpatient wound care clinics, long-term care facilities, home health settings, and rehabilitation centers, adapting care to the unique needs of each setting and patient populationAccurately document wound assessments, treatments, progress, and patient education in the patient medical recordPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is requiredAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
