Our unit is a hybrid unit and consists of acute, intermediate, and intensive level of care patients. Our nursing staff consists of both tele and ICU nurses. The nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4 when caring for non-ICU patients and 1:2 (sometimes 1:3) when caring for ICU patients. Our ICU nurses may experience a 1:1 patient ratio when handling the higher acuity patients that are on devices such as CRRT, IABP, and Impella.
