The ECT Coordinator provides professional leadership in collaboration with ECT Psychiatrist, Anesthesia, OPS, PACU, Aurora Pavilion, and other healthcare facilities affiliated with treatment plan for patients. Will be responsible for non-clinical services for patients and providers; such as, billing, audits, transportation coordinator, pre-authorization, scheduling, registration, referrals, etc.. Serve as a point of contact for the patients and families regarding care. Duties: Participates in the development of goals for the ECT Program that are consistent with goals and objectives of the facility. Facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, standard practices and protocols related to ECT. Coordinates, develops and maintains a concurrent system of performance improvement for the ECT service line and subsequent educational activities for monitoring standards of medical and nursing practice and care. In consultation with staff development, develops, coordinates and implements and revises educational programs for the nursing staff as needed. Address any patient dissatisfaction and notify Director when necessary. Performs body systems assessment accurately and promptly, including assessment of pain to ensure that patient is safe to receive ECT treatment. Continues to ensure the patient safety in all aspects of the treatment process. Effectively communicates with all providers to coordinate ECT treatments in the PACU. Performs time out with team prior to ECT delivery. Provides patient/family with education regarding ECT procedure and treatment regimen. Facilitates patient flow and provides direct care during all ECT treatments. Maintains equipment and supplies necessary for ECT treatment. Schedules all treatments, appointments with departments and consultants to include Anesthesia, OPS, PACU, Aurora, psychiatrists, and other providers and their affiliated healthcare locations as needed Coordinates benefits with Utilization Review Department. Pre-certifies outpatients with UR and insurance providers. Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills for psychiatric population. Demonstrates PACU skills in using monitoring equipment such as EEG monitors and ETCO2 peripheral nerve stimulator. Performs monthly PI activities to ensure best practices with ECT delivery. Exhibits sound time management skills to prioritize care for patients. Manages time effectively to minimize overtime and unnecessary time required of anesthesia and PACU nursing staff. Will perform other non-clinical duties such as, but not limited to, registration, authorization, scheduling, create care plans, coordinating transportation, assessments, audits, maintain care plans and charts, etc. Serve as a main point of contact for patients, families, Aurora’s UR/Assessment Team, and providers. Collaborate with Aurora’s UR Team regarding inpatient and outpatients’ current authorization for reviews, progress, deficits, placement, etc. Responsible for ensuring PHQ-9's are completed prior to and at each treatment, performing MoCA assessments to be done several times throughout treatment, and responsible for ECT bay and ordering of all supplies needed Performs other duties as assigned.
