This RN professional can apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice and use this knowledge to personalize care for each patient/family while serving as a resource to colleagues and advocate for them strongly. This individual:Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory Universitys Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education. Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.Performs related responsibilities as required.Clinical expert in area of specialization. Integrates knowledge gained through practice and education to respond intuitively to patient/family needs.Routinely leads efforts to strengthen organizational systems that support patient care.Adept at creative problem-solving, negotiating conflict, and collaborating with others. Demonstrates insight, judgment, and clinically sound risk-taking. Role models expert communication skills to colleagues through example and has achieved clinical expertise and leadership, is viewed as a professional leader within the unit and beyond.Advances and leads evidence-based practices, participates, and leads in unit governance, leads unit projects, and mentors other nurses to achieve in the role of the professional nurse. This nurse will have over two years of nursing experience, a BSN (or completion of RN-MSN), MSN, DNP program, and specialty certification.Demonstrates expertise in chosen scholarly activities focused on the advancement or promotion of the profession.Role models dependable, effective, and efficient care to a patient population using the nursing process. Certification: BLS certification. ACLS may be required in designated departments. Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred. Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
