We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsJOB SUMMARY:We are seeking a Trauma Registered Nurse Lead to join our healthcare team. Your primary function is to provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. You will proactively assume responsibility and accountability for several patients during a designated time frame while following policies and procedures. You will work with a phenomenal team that cares like family and works together in a collaborative manner.In this role you will:The Trauma Nurse Lead provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures. In collaboration with the patient, the patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the trauma nurse lead assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans. Demonstrates strong trauma clinical assessment, nursing intervention, and strong communication/leadership skills. In addition to clinical responsibilities the Trauma Nurse Lead provides trauma program support. Responsibilities include, although are not limited to: Responds to trauma bays for all Trauma AlertsResponsible for trauma bay readinessModels behavior at all times, and mentors trauma nurse respondersCoordinates and triages incoming trauma patients, and reviews/evaluates all activations for triage level appropriatenessFunctions as a clinical liaison for pre-hospital partnersResponsible for documentation compliance; performs audits and provides feedbackAssists to coordinate admission consultations and response times for time-sensitive needsFacilitates trauma bay time outs and debriefings in collaboration with primary surgeonMonitors care provision for trauma patients holding in ED for admissionResponds to in-house trauma patients’ critical needsDaily rounding on in-house trauma patients; Provides outstanding customer service to trauma patients and their families.Identifies and reports on trauma audit filtersAttends daily multi-disciplinary rounds (IDTs) with the trauma service providersPerforms focused patient rounds based on current PI projectsAssists with real-time education through training and in-service needs in the ED and inpatient unitsParticipates in scholarly activities Assists with the coordination of the operative patient, including pre-op readinessAssists in obtaining vascular access with midline and ultrasound guided IV placementCompletes SBIRT and mental health screenings/assessments for eligible patientsAssists as needed during massive transfusion of trauma patients hospital-wideRegularly communicates with the charge nurses on all units with trauma patientsWhen not performing other assigned duties, will assist with tasks in the provision of care in the ED and trauma inpatient units (no patient assignments; must be able to immediately pivot out of task if needed).Assists with chart abstraction and patient follow-up for active research projectsParticipates in disaster preparedness activitiesParticipates in other duties as assigned by the director of trauma servicesJob Requirements:Graduated from an NLN accredited school of nursing. Current BSN or currently enrolled, graduation within 2 years of hire.Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.BLS-AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of startACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC, within 6 months of hireMinimum of 3 years of experience in critical care or emergency nursing.BSN, TCRN,CEN, or CCRN, and a minimum of 1 year in trauma care preferred HCA Florida Osceola Hospital is a 404-bed tertiary care hospital.
