Our team is integral in the care of our complex cardiac patients. Duties include pre-operative evaluation, intra-operative first and second assistance, and post-operative surgical rounding and management for our ACHD patients. In addition to performing over 500 congenital cardiac surgeries each year, we have a very active heart transplant and VAD program averaging 20 heart transplants annually. Our Chief Pediatric Heart Surgeon Dr. Hanley is a world-renown surgeon specializing in Unifocalization and Pulmonary Artery Reconstruction surgeries. We also care for children with all levels of cardiac defects, from ASD's to complex single ventricle or biventricular heart reconstructions. The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) provides state-of-the-art critical care to children with congenital and acquired heart disease. We also care for adults with congenital heart disease in the immediate post-operative period. Our facility is one of the largest and most technologically advanced units dedicated to the care of critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in the western United States. We care for more than 750 patients each year. Our CVICU is currently a 29-bed unit with plans to expand to 36 beds in the next few years. We are a post-surgical and cardiac medical unit. Our Pediatric Heart Transplant program is complemented by the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PACT) program. PACT provides artificial circulatory assist devices as alternatives to or bridges to transplant. These include ECMO, the Berlin Heart and Heart Mate. We are one of the most experienced teams nationally in the care of these complex patients.Our APP team is currently made up of 19 highly qualified NP's and PA's. Job DescriptionDepartment DescriptionInpatient Acute Care Pulmonary APP: Stanford Technology Assisted Respiratory (STAR) ProgramThe Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position is part of a collaborative team model of care consisting of Attending Physicians, Fellows, and a team of APPs made up NP's and PA's who provide care to patients with chronic pulmonary care needs, specifically tracheostomy patients requiring chronic mechanical ventilation. Common Diagnosis include: Pediatric patients admitted to the hospital with tracheostomies requiring chronic mechanical ventilation, known as "trach/vent" patients. These patients include those awaiting transition to home or a long-term care facility, admitted for other medical concerns not related to their chronic respiratory condition, or for an overnight stay after a procedure. In many facilities due to their chronic respiratory status these patients would require hospitalization within the ICU (PICU/NICU). Here at LPCH the technology dependent patients with tracheostomies on portable ventilators, who do not require an ICU level of care, are eligible for admission to this highly specialized program. Specific roles/ responsibilities include: The APP is an integral part of the provider team and active in the management and clinical decision making for all patients on the service. The APP role will be the backbone of the program, providing continuity of care among providers 7 days a week. The APP will cover patients within the STAR program and acute care pulmonology patients.The APP functions to full scope of practice including ordering and prescribing of medical interventions/devices and perform procedures in accordance with medical staff privileging. Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.Base salary is only part of the total compensation package.
