Key responsibilities include managing environmental compliance initiatives such as automotive OBD regulations, fleet compliance, securing timely government approvals, and proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks. The position also focuses on minimizing potential market actions (e.g., PUDs, recalls, buybacks) and enforcement measures from regulatory agencies. Additionally, the role provides strategic guidance, training, and hands-on support to both senior and junior team members within the department.Key AccountabilitiesPrepare and manage overall certification and compliance, including OBD compliance, for Honda products. Coordinate with government agencies to obtain necessary approvals on time. Prepare, present, and negotiate face to face meetings with government agencies for technical meetings covering topics of certification and compliance approvals, negotiations, or technical discussions. Lead the review, analysis, and participation in OBD rulemaking activities. Attend industry and agency meetings to learn future direction. Analyze the potential impact to Honda products plans and development. Discuss potential impacts, competitive issues and provide a comprehensive breakdown and provide decision matrix to facilitate Honda decision makers. Prepare, present, and negotiate face to face meetings with government agencies other technical meetings covering topics of market negotiation, other technical discussions, regulation interpretation or other business impacting technical topics. Review regulatory requirements and verify product compliance. Maintain good understanding of government environmental rules and regulations. Verify compliance through documentation review and/or product inspection. Create and maintain Quality Standard and Standard Operating Procedures. Lead the environmental technical review and discussion with internal stakeholders, government agencies and Trade Associations. Provide technical guidance, training, and assistance to senior and junior staff within the Department.Qualifications, Experience, and SkillsB.S. degree in Engineering or related field Knowledge of emissions and environmental systems Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience Knowledge of emissions, GHG, and associated reporting requirements.
