Paraprofessional:
Under supervision and direction of the classroom teacher(s), to assist in the supervision and intensified learning instruction of students in assigned areas of study and to perform classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process.
Paraprofessional ResponsibilitiesStudent:
Works with small groups of students or 1:1 in an instructional capacity.Assists and provides support for students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.Assists in maintaining appropriate classroom environment to ensure a safe and positive learning experience.Monitors individual students in the classroom, library, or during playground activities to ensure a safe and positive learning environmentMonitors and assists students during various classroom activities (examples; art, literacy, bathrooming, fine motor skills)Maintains confidentiality in all correspondence and communicationsSupports special needs learners and modifies instruction as directedAssists in maintaining appropriate student conductMaintains discipline in the absence of the teacherPerforms other related duties as assigned/required by teacher(s), site, or district administrator(s).
Clerical:
Assists with clerical duties such as record keeping, typing, and duplicatingAssists other personnel as required to support them in the completion of their work activities.Operates a variety of instructional media, office machines and equipment.Performs record keeping, and clerical functions (scheduling, copying, etc.) to maintain records, provide materials, and prepare reports.Establishes and maintains a cooperative relationship with parents, students, and teachers in the course of workPerforms other related duties as assigned/required by teacher(s), site, or district administrator(s).
Paraprofessional Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.Clearances: IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.Other: Must be at least 18 years of age.Preferred Qualification: CPI training. Training costs will be fully reimbursed when required by the school for physical intervention protocols.
Knowledge of:
General concepts of child growth and development and child behavior characteristicsTechniques used in behavior modification and motivating studentsEnglish usage, punctuation, spelling and grammarRoutine record keepingGeneral purposes and goals of public educationSpecific subject area content as required in job assignment
