You will administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor and document newborns’ progress and condition. Cardiac is a medical/telemetry floor taking post op CABG/open heart patients as soon as day 1 following surgery, TAVRs, Watchmen and other post cath-lab intervention patients (stents, AIF, etc.) but they will never have a sheath, they may come to us with a radial band. None of our patients are on vasoactive drips but we do take amio, cardizem and other cardiac drips and do titrate down to wean. Many of our patients have chest tubes. The Medical Surgical unit at Mercy Rogers is a 48 bed unit that manages acute medical surgical patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, this unit houses and cares for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. This can include care of patients with illnesses such as pneumonia and sepsis; as well as pre and post op management of pain, wound care, and monitoring for any complications post procedure. The Med-Surg unit also manages chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and chronic kidney disease. Service lines include oncology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, and many more.
