Steep Creek LLC is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent for our Construction Division. This position is for a key player who can be on-site to direct day-to-day field operations for civil projects such as roadways and bridges. The successful candidate will always be prepared, organized, responsive, willing to take on challenges directly, and seek assistance when needed. The Civil Project Superintendent will report directly to the Construction Division Leader.
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, typically 3-4 days of travel per week
Job Duties Include:
Supervise and actively participate in operating heavy and light construction equipment, trucks, and job site tools.
Assign and oversee work for team members and subcontractors to ensure projects remain on or ahead of schedule.
Manage inventory, tools, and materials, ensuring proper storage, security, and timely return of rental equipment.
Maintain high-quality standards by ensuring all materials and installations meet approved submittals and specifications.
Keep detailed daily logs of job site activities and maintain accurate site layouts, testing records, and inspection logs.
Coordinate with the Project Manager to provide project status updates, look-ahead schedules, and progress reports.
Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure timely procurement, start, and completion of their scope of work.
Promote and enforce a safe, clean, organized, and secure work site, while fostering a positive safety culture.
Process field team timesheets, manage schedules, and handle time-off requests.
Mentor and support field team members, providing performance feedback and recommendations for improvement or wage adjustments.
Perform additional tasks as needed to support overall project success.
Be available to work overtime, including an occasional weekend

Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Project Superintendent on civil construction projects, including grading operations, roadway/highway construction, and storm drainage installation; OR 10+ years of civil construction experience with proven leadership responsibilities
Proven track record managing construction projects valued at $1M or more
Supervisory experience is required
Strong understanding of construction operations, processes, and project scheduling
Skilled at identifying deficiencies in work and implementing prompt, effective resolutions
Collaborative team player with proven ability to lead and motivate field crews
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating field operations, managing client relations, and directing subcontractors
Thorough knowledge of safety and health regulations for construction job sites
