JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Garnishment Specialist is responsible for collecting, reviewing and analyzing payroll information to effectively administer voluntary deductions from pay, such as child support, federal/state tax levies, and other general deductions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote, demonstrate and instill Brock’s Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business
  • Perform a variety of payroll auditing and analyzing related to the payroll functionsAssist in the centralization of various standards related to payroll functions
  • Assist Payroll Team Lead with project managing various process improvement initiatives and projects
  • Review the maintenance of the payroll garnishment processes and procedures including performing audits and detecting issues
  • Prepare reports and custom reporting for senior management
  • Provide customer service support to management with any reporting issues
  • Review language of garnishment orders to determine the scope, jurisdiction, applicability and time frame of the garnishments and ensure correct timely processing
  • Log and record all garnishment order subsequent details in the payroll system
  • Process orders within defined quality standards
  • Demonstrate high level of accuracy to mitigate risk, liability and exposure
  • Ensure all garnishment payments are accurate and in compliance with withholding orders and laws
  • Research and respond to inquiries from employees, courts, state and federal agencies and others regarding assigned general deductions
  • Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of garnishment accounts
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of information in all aspects of duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Assist Payroll Manager with various tests related to new ERP implementation
  • Assist Payroll Manager in various special projects around general deductions
  • Assist in developing and drafting new policies and procedures
  • Assist Payroll Manager in preparing various schedule and compiling of documents for quarterly reviews and year-end external audits

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service responsiveness
  • Familiarity with a payroll software
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with all levels of personnel in large organization distributed throughout the company
  • Adaptable to changes in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail

  • Must have excellent organizational skills

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous garnishment processing, garnishment law knowledge and high volume payroll
  • Lawson Software experience a plus
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing full cycle ERP systems
