Basic Function Under the direction of the LRV Maintenance Supervisor performs LRV T1 level diagnosis and repair of LRV Systems and Subsystems. Responsible for preventative maintenance repair and running maintenance repair on light rail vehicles.  Read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.  Utilize portable test equipment.  Performs functional checks and inspections of light rail vehicles using portable test equipment, laptop diagnostics and other common tools.  Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties Successfully complete the LRV Maintenance Training courses in light rail vehicle systems and sub-systems. Complete 75% of the PQS within 1 year from date of hire in order to progress to LRV Tech T2. Inspects, function tests, and repairs rail vehicle systems and equipment. Performs downloads of diagnostic fault history. Monitors and replaces consumables on the vehicles. Replaces LRV System mechanical components and sub-assemblies. Enters work order and job information into a maintenance management system. Tracks warranty components and prepare warranty documentation. Complies with all safety, operating and maintenance procedures. Operates METRORail non-revenue vehicles to include rail car mover, hi-rail equipment, forklifts and re-railing equipment. Provides necessary support for revenue and future start-up operations. Maintains a safe and clean work area. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Basic Function The Transit Bus Repair “A” must have a thorough knowledge of components on METRO’s revenue vehicles and their proper function as required for job classification.  Additionally, the Transit Bus Repair “A” must show a proficient knowledge and use of test equipment and specialized tools related to classification requirements.  The Transit Bus Repair “A” must independently diagnose and repair all defects to completion in a timely manner under the supervision of a Mechanical Foreman.  Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties Performs Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on revenue fleet. Inspects and/or test and observe defective equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions of major components and complete assemblies. Performs diagnosis and repair of air brake systems, suspension, steering and alignment. Proper use and interpretation of laptop computer and related HVAC software. Must be able to read and interpret refrigerant, hydraulic, and pneumatic pressure gauges and understand the proper use of battery/ charging system analyzers. Services and diagnose Multiplex Systems utilizing test instruments such as laptop computer, ID Reader/ Writer and able to read ladder logic charts. Assists in the servicing and diagnosing of exhaust after-treatment systems and electronic engine controls. Assists in the servicing, diagnosing and troubleshooting of Hybrid and Alternate Fuel Propulsion Systems applicable to revenue fleet. Inspects and verifies dimensions, clearances, and torque of part fasteners to ensure conformance to factory specifications. Road tests vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Completes all required reports and records in a timely and accurate fashion. Assists in work direction with mechanics as assigned. Participates in on-going training in accordance with METRO’s Maintenance Training Program. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Must show a proficient knowledge and use of test equipment and specialized tools related to classification requirements. Must independently diagnose and repair all defects to completion. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties Performs Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on vehicle HVAC systems installed on METRO’s revenue fleet. Independently diagnoses and repairs all air conditioning and heat defects on Authority vehicles under the supervision of a Mechanical Foreman. Proper use and interpretation of laptop computer and related HVAC system software. Performs inspections and uses approved test equipment and specialized tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment associated with air conditioning and heat repair work. Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Assists in work direction with mechanics as assigned. Perform the duties of a Transit Bus Repair “A” as assigned. Participates in on-going training in accordance with METRO’s Maintenance Training Program. Maintains a clean and safe work area. Completes all required reports and records in a timely and accurate fashion. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. Performs other job-related duties as required.
