45001 and how the standard can help their organization to better align their strategic direction with their occupational
health and safety management system.

The Center for Risk Management safety training classes are offered FREE to the public through a generous grant from the Texas Mutual Insurance Company. All courses are scheduled to begin at 8:00 am on the dates listed. Courses are held at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute facility. Pro Speed Networking by Network After Work Houston
Location:
Spaces - Texas, Houston - Kirby Grove, 2925 Richmond Ave suite 1200, Houston, TX 77098, USA
Description:
$20 Admission
$40 Admission + List

Network After Work, America’s largest face-to-face networking event organization, has once again redefined professional networking with Pro Speed Networking.

Pro Speed Networking by Network After Work improves on the raw efficiency of speed networking. Each attendee indicates what industries they are most interested in connecting with when registering. Throughout the evening they are then seated at a stream of tables of 4 stacked with attendees from those industries. This fusion of speed networking and roundtable discussions result in meeting three times as many potential contacts while having to move around and repeat introductions significantly less often. The group discussion dynamic this creates also helps attendees, including introverts, break the ice more easily.

The evening concludes with an open networking mixer where everyone mingles together. This provides a great opportunity to circle back with contacts from earlier in the evening or forge new ones not previously encountered at the tables.

Registration for this next evolution in networking will open at 6:00pm and the event will begin at 6:30pm SHARP. Please allow yourself enough time to check-in and get settled into the event.

Please note: This is a dry event and there will not be a bar or refreshments served at the event. Bottled water will be available.

Remember to bring plenty of business cards!

WARRIOR FOR LIFE LUNCHEON - Network, Recruit, Hire
Location:
Masraff's, 1753 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056, USA
Description:
The transition from military to civilian life can be difficult. The biggest obstacle to overcome is finding that great career launch pad. As a military veteran, you already stand out in the crowd as a resource that is sought by companies who value excellence in their personnel. At the Warrior For Life Luncheon, you get to meet those employers, one on one.

Designed to create direct contact between veterans and local employers, Warrior For Life provides a forum for veterans to get hired. Hosted once a month at Masraff's in the Galleria, veterans have a chance to market themselves in a professional, yet personal environment.

For veterans:

We strongly encourage you to attend the Veteran Transition Workshop hosted by our friends at the Travis Manion Foundation the day prior. This event will give you all the tools you need to excel at Warrior for Life. *While spouses are welcome at Warrior for Life, the Veteran Transition Workshop is for veterans only.

Promptly arrive at 11:00 a.m. This is 30 minutes earlier than employers in order to prepare for the event.
There is plenty of free parking.

You need to have a proper and up-to-date resume/CV.

The dress code is business professional. Suit and tie for men, business suit for women. If you need professional attire for the event, see the following links for men and women.

This is a professional lunch for you to talk with employers and network. Please do not bring guests or family members. Spouses are welcome (please RSVP).

If you RSVP, you need to attend. If you cannot make the luncheon, it is important that you email communications@lonestarveterans.org or call (281)744-7972 by 10:00 AM the day prior to the luncheon. This allows space for those veterans on the wait list.

What is the cost of the luncheon?
$5 for veterans; $35 for employers. If you are an employer who is also a veteran, the cost is still $35 (sorry!).

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
communications@lonestarveterans.org or call 281-744-7972

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, a printed ticket is not necessary to bring with you.

There are two STEPS to the Edge4Vets process:

1. Once you REGISTER we'll send you TIPS on how to prepare before the workshop begins so you'll get maximum benefit.

2. At the CONNECTION WORKSHOP mentors - executives (including HR) from our partners - help you identify your strengths from the military and explore how to APPLY your values and skills to excel in the airport and aviation workplace and the general business community - then (as noted above) they CONNECT you to job and career opportunities at their companies and organizations.

Following the Workshop we send you an invitation to take our ONLINE course to REFINE and FINALIZE the draft you create at the Workshop and polish your PLAN4SUCCESS before you submit it to us to earn an Edge4Vets Certificate.
The workshop really works! But space is limited - so REGISTER today. We'll be in touch with a WELCOME and give you full details on how to get started.

Incident Investigation – 8 hrs
Location:
Gulf Coast Safety Institute, 320 Delany Rd, La Marque, TX 77568, USA
Description:
An incident investigation is the account and analysis of an incident based on information gathered by a thorough
examination of all causal and contributing factors involved. It gets to the root causes of the incident, so similar
occurrences can be prevented and future losses in the workplace can be avoided. Investigations are conducted to meet
legal compliance, but more importantly to help prevent reoccurrences. Therefore, it is essential to ensure those who are
responsible for investigating incidents are properly trained. The objectives of this course will focus on techniques for
gathering complete, accurate and objective incident data, how to conduct effective interviews, identifying causal and
contributing factors, reporting findings and various tools and techniques for conducting an investigation. Additionally,
we will discuss some common mistakes that companies often make when conducting incident investigations and how to avoid them.

The Center for Risk Management safety training classes are offered FREE to the public through a generous grant from the Texas Mutual Insurance Company. All courses are scheduled to begin at 8:00 am on the dates listed. Courses are held at the Gulf Coast Safety Institute facility. All dates are on Fridays during the calendar year unless otherwise listed. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of each course.

The 2018 Hiring Red, White, and You! Job Fair will be held simultaneously in different cities throughout the state of Texas.

Hiring Red, White & You! connects Texas veterans and their families with Texas employers who value the experience, discipline and other exceptional qualities inherent with a military background.

There are thousands of veterans in Texas who are eligible for work. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the national unemployment rate for all veterans is 6.3 percent. In contrast, for those veterans who served in the military post 9/11, the unemployment rate is 10.0 percent.

At Workforce Solutions, helping veterans and their families enter or return to the workforce is our privilege. We encourage all veterans looking for career guidance to visit a local Workforce Solutions career office prior to the event. We can help you assess how the skills you acquired in military service will fit in the Houston-Galveston area job market.
