Description:

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Adult Services staff will present a variety of free, introductory computer classes this month. The classes will consist of a hands-on introduction to basic skills for people who would like to learn more about using these computer and technology programs. The classes will take place in the Computer Labs of the libraries; seating is limited and reservations are required.

 

To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Classes & Events,” select the library, and find the program. Description:

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Adult Services staff at the Albert George Branch Library will present a free, introductory computer class, “MS Word Survival Basics,” for version 2019, on Monday, October 3, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 9230 Gene Street in Needville.

 

Learn the basics of using this word-processing software program to create letters, resumés, forms, and other types of documents. Topics that will be demonstrated include navigating the ribbon and tool bar, formatting text, changing font size and appearance, copying and pasting, changing the page layout, using spell check, saving, and printing.

 

The class is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Classes & Events,” select “Albert George Branch Library,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-238-2850, or by visiting the library.

Have you been searching for a job and not having any luck? Maybe it’s time for a change in your game plan. A free, “Job-Search Survival Workshop” will take place online on Tuesday October 4th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. This online workshop will be live streamed; it will NOT be in person.

The workshop is designed to help all job-hunters, from those applicants applying for a position at a fast-food restaurant to executives looking for a position in a large company. The tips that are presented can help any applicant plan a more efficient job hunt and make a more favorable impression.

In addition to the Seminar, we have a weekly Support Group that meets each Wednesday at 9am.  Additional topics are covered like Networking, Skills Transfer, Mock Interviews, and other topics. The Support Group is primarily designed to meet the current needs of the Job Search Participants.

The workshop is presented by multiple coaches from different industries and with different skill sets, with more than 30 years of experience in the business world.

Class starts September 29th to Dec. 15th.
Class will be every Tuesday at 10 am - 11 am.

All you need is internet access, a computer or mobile device, ability to read, speak, and understand basic English, and be age 18 or older.
Free printed class booklets will be available through curbside pickup.
Booklets must be picked up before class begins. Digital copies can be emailed to students upon request.

Registration is required.
