We are seeking a Registered Nurse with excellent communication skills and an upbeat personality to join our Endoscopy team at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital. In this role, you will be the first line of contact for our patients, ensuring they are well prepared and supported before their procedure. This is an exciting opportunity with the potential to work remotely within 6-9 months!
This role is essential in conducting pre-screening assessmentsfor patients scheduled for endoscopy procedures; reviewing patient charts; documenting all patient interactions and events accurately in Epic and provide compassionate, clear communication with patients over the phone.

With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.
The Endoscopy department at Barnes Jewish West County Hospital is a highly specialized, full-service department meeting the needs of inpatient and outpatient clients. The lab specializes in Upper Endoscopy (EGD), Esophagoscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Small bowel enteroscopy (SBE), and Video capsule endoscopy. The endoscopy staff consists of a NP, RNs and technicians who are overseen by an Endoscopy Supervisor.

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities

Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
