Job Summary:
Reports to the Manager of Education and Training, the Medical Assistant Education Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting in the development of educational programs to accelerate adoption of Triple Aim related initiatives and will be focused on implementing the training and to enhance critical thinking through the role of educator, clinical resource consultant and change agent. The Medical Assistant Education Specialist works collaboratively with RN, LPN and Clinical Education Specialists and all departments within St. Elizabeth to develop and sustain exceptional and consistent clinical nursing skills, focusing on patient safety, high quality care standards and superior patient experience. This is a dual education role who will be providing education to both Patient Service Representatives and Medical Assistants.

Job Title: Medical Assistant Education Specialist (MA)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the development, management, analysis, and evaluation of training programs, working projects from conception to completion.
- Updates and maintains baseline skill requirements for all medical assistant SEP associates
- Updates and maintains requirements for all PSR associates
- Assists in developing, implementing and leading training and assessments for new hire medical assistant and patient service representative associates
- Facilitates BLS, ACLS and PALS for all clinical providers and associates, as needed
- Assists in leading annual assessments for medical assistant and PSR associates
- Collaborates with Operations and the Clinical Transformation team to identify clinical skills gaps needing to be incorporated into annual assessments
- Tracks competency standards and validate investment through program evaluation
- Implements individualized re-education plans based on need as identified by physician or Operations leadership request
- Participates in the evaluation process of identified clinical and PSR associates by analyzing the individual’s performance and making recommendations to manager
- Functions as a resource/mentor and collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare team members with providing education to clinical and PSR associates
- Participates in cross functional activities acting as a clinical consultant
- Actively participates, chairs or acts as advisor for committees or councils
- Maintains high proficiency standards in clinical, scheduling and registration Epic utilization
- Collaborates with Clinical Transformation team in healthcare gap closure
- Assists in developing or revises current education material to support process improvement initiatives. Supports implementation of new workflows through staff training
- Maintains necessary CEU requirement for licensure/certification
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the clinical process, standards of care, research/evidence-based practice and policies/procedures
- Responsible for training supplies and materials upkeep
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: 5 years of experience in a medical practice setting in both clinical and PSR duties.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum: An approved credential, such as the CCMA, CMA, or RMA for medical assisting
Must have a valid driver’s license for travel between office sites. (if applicable)
EDUCATION:
Minimum: Graduate of accredited medical assisting program.
