Department/Unit Summary
- Monday - Friday position, with limited weekend requirements.
- Limited call - one night call every other week, and one weekend call rotating through entire department (usually works out to be every 10-12 weeks).
- Phase 1 recovery - recover patient for 30 minutes to one hour (depending on type of anesthesia given), then send to Phase 2 and give hand off to another nurse.
- Phase 2 recovery - go over discharge paperwork with family member, give patient snack and medicine. Free to discharge if they meet requirements.

Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have a current state RN license or a current multistate compact license and possess an associate orbachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
Additional requirements include:
Required Skills Certifications:
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain within 90 days after hire date.
- Current American Heart Association ACLS certification or obtain within 6 months after hire date.
- Current American Heart Association PALS certification or obtain within 6 months after hire date.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Essential Functions
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Responds appropriately to the patient in an emergency or physically distressful situation.
- Maintains a positive working relationship both within the department and with other departments for the benefit of the patients
