Role Synopsis
We are seeking a Senior Pipeline/Facilities Engineer with a minimum of 10 years experience in the midstream oil and gas industry to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in pipeline integrity management, flow assurance, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, pigging operations, and previous compressor station/Water disposal experience. This role will involve designing, maintaining, and optimizing pipeline systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of oil and gas.
Key Accountabilities
Daily operational support which includes but not limited to: Pigging, MOC initiation, RCFA’s, procedure updates/support, and optimization.
Lead change of service for pipelines such as abandonment/preservation
- Provide feedback in development of PI/Cygnet screens
- Engage with SAP/maintenance team to assure correct IPL’s and maintenance strategy of equipment.
- Pipeline Integrity Management: Assist with development and implementation of integrity management programs, including risk assessments, in-line inspections (ILI), corrosion control, and repair strategies to ensure pipeline reliability and compliance with industry standards.
- Flow Assurance: Analyze and optimize pipeline flow dynamics, addressing issues such as wax deposition, hydrate formation, and slugging to maintain operational efficiency.
- DOT Compliance: Ensure pipelines meet all regulatory requirements under DOT/PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) regulations, including 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195, and maintain accurate documentation for audits and inspections.
- Pigging Operations: Plan, execute, and oversee pipeline pigging programs (cleaning, intelligent pigging, etc.) to maintain pipeline cleanliness, inspect for defects, and ensure operational integrity.
- Design and Engineering: Participate in the design, specification, and modification of pipeline systems, including material selection and hydraulic modeling.
- Project Management: Manage midstream pipeline projects from concept to commissioning, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with cross-functional teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Technical Support: Provide expertise for troubleshooting operational issues, optimizing throughput, and supporting emergency response planning for pipeline incidents.
- Collaboration: Work closely with operations, maintenance, environmental, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment with safety, environmental, and operational goals.
- Innovation and Optimization: Stay updated on industry advancements in pipeline technologies, materials, and practices to drive continuous improvement in system performance and safety.
Essential Experience and Education
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Petroleum Engineering (or related field). Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years in midstream oil and gas pipeline engineering, with proven expertise in:
- Flow assurance (e.g., thermal-hydraulic modeling, multiphase flow analysis).
- DOT/PHMSA regulatory compliance (49 CFR 192/195).
- Pipeline pigging operations (smart pigs, cleaning pigs, launcher/receiver design).
- Knowledge of API standards (e.g., API 1163, API 1173), ASME B31.4, and B31.8.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and data analysis for pipeline monitoring.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
How much do we pay (Base) $156,000 - $184,000
Note that the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
