Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
• Must have at least 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience within the past 3 years.
• 3 months of experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

Shift and scheduling:
Block booking and Schedule patterns are based on department needs.
OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift; Nonbillable Orientation hours: 12; Guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation.
Every other weekend (Saturday / Sunday on Day Shift and either Friday / Saturday or Saturday / Sunday on night shift to follow unit patterns)
Every other Holiday (Days holidays are: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. Nights holidays are: Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Memorial Day Eve, the 3rd of July Nights, and Labor day Eve)
Procedures/ Diagnostics/ Treatments performed on unit:
The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit.
This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.
Work requires a professional level of knowledge of nursing practice and theory at a level that generally can be acquired by completion and graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other patient care providers; and to instruct patients, family members and/or significant others in self-care/home care procedures.
post op surgical , trauma, overflow medical, dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NGs,central lines, TPN
post op care of patients, critical thinking skills, ask for help when needed.

housewide teleonly - we do not have monitor techs and do not interpret strips
no vents, cpcp and high flow
Floating requirements
Floating to other units/departments.
Floating: There are no contracts for Agency RN’s that limit or make exemptions for floating
Inpatient (ICU, Step Down, Tele, Med-Surg) External Agency nurses will float prior to Core nurses floating.
External Agency Nurses are competent to float:
ICU Nurses can float to Step down with full assignment and can float to Tele and Med-Surg with assignment of 4-5 patients on days and 5-6 patients on nights
Step Down and Tele nurses can float to Med-Surg with full assignment (customarily 4-5 days and 5-6 nights, occasionally higher or lower based on acuity and coverage levels)
Med-Surg nurses can float to like level of care units with full assignments
