Overview:
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
- Must hold a current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure where nursing duties are performed.
- Responsible for maintaining licensure and meeting all state board of nursing requirements.
Certifications
- Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.
- May be required based on unit/role:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPHON (Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
- PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support)
- C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
Experience
- Previous nursing experience preferred (specific experience requirements may vary by unit).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift.
- Must be able to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional education, licensure, experience, or certifications may be preferred depending on the specific unit or role.
