Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience is required from the last 3 years.
• Travel experience is required from any number of months.
• Experience with Epic is preferred from any number of months.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <80 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

Upon accepting an offer, you will be assigned Relias exams that must be taken immediately (within 48hrs). If you fail the exam twice, this may result in an immediate cancellation by the facility.
Float experience does not count towards the unit experience requirement.

- Diagnosis/Procedures: Stroke, GI Bleed, Failure to Thrive, Hip/ankle Fractures, Diabetes, Non-healing Wounds, Renal Insufficiency, Acute Kidney Injury, Comfort Care, Oncology, Post-op care, Recover Cardiac Cath, etc.
- Special procedure done on the unit: Wound Vacs, Thoracentesis/Paracentesis, Chest Tube, Incision & Debridement, Post-Op Drains, Tube Feeding, Tracheostomy, Central Line Placement, Catherization (foley & suprapubic), etc.
- Medications: Heparin, Bumex, Lasix Drips; Hypertensive drugs (oral); Coumadin, Lovenox, Cardiac meds (oral); Cardizem/Lopressor/Labetalol IV Push; TPN/PPN; Insulin.
Types of Patients on Unit: COPD exacerbation, acute renal failure, sepsis, UTI, pneumonia, syncope, anemia, hip fractures, bowel obstruction, cellulitis, renal failure, dehydration, diabetes hepatic encephalopathy, stroke, TIA, chronic CHF, PE, various abdominal surgeries-lap choles, lap appendectomies, hernia repairs, bowel resections Peritoneal Dialysis, Chest tubes, CBI, bedside I & D, Central lines, thoracentesis, paracentesis, wound vacs, bucks traction, Breathing Treatments; Chest Tube Set-up/Care; CPAP/BiPap; Trach Care.
Equipment Used on Unit: Alaris IV pump, Omni Feeding pump, SCD machine, IsoAir mattress pump, Tpumps, Accucheck Vein Finder, Glucose meter; Welch-Allyn VS machine, Computers on wheels, banyan phones
Unit Details:
- Number of Beds/Cases: 36
- Nurse Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 Teamwork approach; general MedSurg patients; 1:5-6 patients black scrubs nurse to patient ratio: 1:6
Floating Requirements: Float to any nursing area, practice as needed
