In collaboration with attending surgeons, this role delivers skilled health care across diverse clinical settings and supports the clinical management of patients by working closely with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the health care team. Responsibilities include applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, addressing actual or potential surgical needs in accordance with established practices, standards, protocols, and guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care in office consultations, including assessment, workups, triage, emergency work-ins, and other patient care activities
Obtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic tests
Provides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment
Obtain Consents for Smart pill and Manometry procedures
Scrub MD scheduled to add follow ups
IT liaison for MMC and SVMC ex. Missing studies and shared drive issues
Attend staff meetings on Motility Orders Workflow Ex. Outside referrals/orders placed incorrectly
Manage triaged inbox messages ex. med refills
Read and interpret breath tests
Provide education for Motility Spreadsheet
Attend weekly meetings with MDs to discuss complex patients
Shift – 40 hours per week.
Qualifications
·Master’s degree in nursing
·National Certification in Advanced Practice and current CPR certification
·Current State of CT APRN license with prescriptive authority and current DEA number & 100% attendance to maintain annual mandatory skill updates
·2 years of experience in general surgery/colorectal surgery, ambulatory surgery or acute care setting for surgical care preferred
·Excellent clinical management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take lead when appropriate
