POSITION SUMMARY:
The Analyst role is the department’s point within the given areas of responsibility and works closely with external contacts and internal functions to analyze, often manage, and provide guidance for business opportunities, initiatives, and projects as well as leads risk activities. The Analyst reports to the Director and works closely with the Traders, Schedulers, BP&A, Operational Accounting, and other back-office support groups. This role will also mentor a more junior analyst position, and at times, may provide sales and customer service backing for the natural gas liquids (NGL) Traders regarding commodities produced at MPLX G&P facilities.
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. The actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyzing and reporting on MPLX G&P producer/equity NGL production to depict profitability of Marketing and Scheduling’s activities.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal/external stakeholders and service providers.
- Developing and analyzing economic models for current and new areas/markets of expansion, which support current MPLX G&P assets.
- Researching and maintaining current and historical market intelligence including, but not limited to, industry pricing, market conditions, industry and infrastructure developments, and alternative options and economics.
- Coordinating supply and demand forecasts for NGL products to provide better visibility for management.
- Working with Traders and Plant personnel to develop and execute sales allocation planning as necessary.
- Compiling and providing industry information and projected NGL sales forecasts to be used in frac spread hedge program development.
- Insuring NGL compliance with respect to sales to meet existing hedge requirements and/or other obligations.
- Guiding the Traders as they work closely with back-office to ensure adherence to controls as defined by Risk and Credit Management Policy.
- Assisting NGL Marketing, back-office administration, and accounting personnel in addressing any concerns with respect to movement, pricing, accounting, and credit and contract compliance issues.
- Carrying out a wide variety of special analysis and administrative duties and they arise.
- Coordinating the Business Plan/Budget for the Marketing and Scheduling organization as well as any other financial forecasting.
- Maintaining G & A and operational expenses within budget parameters as relates to areas of influence.
- Preparing reviews and distributes NGL reports presented to management to include Actuals vs. Budget, Historical Pricing Analysis, Supply Demand, etc.
- Developing, benchmarking, and monitoring the Scorecard KPI’s that will be shared with G&P leadership.
- Facilitating the review and development of a Customer Relationship Management platform.
- Assisting with Strategic Planning Sessions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, or related field.
- Advanced computer skills to include knowledge of Excel and MS Word and knowledge of Right Angle. Analytical skills using spreadsheets and/or database software such as MS Access are desired.
- Knowledge of NGL industry is a sought, but similar and transferrable knowledge and skills will also be considered.
SKILLS:
- Self-motivated with proven ability to independently accomplish objectives.
- excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable with interacting with stakeholders and service provider in public settings.
