Department Summary:The Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Enhancement provides outpatient and surgical care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide variety of congenital and acquired conditions of the head and neck. We specialize in treating conditions ranging from airway obstruction and thyroglossal duct cysts to chronic ear and sinus infections. We treat more patients and have more experience than any other pediatric otolaryngology program. Each year, we care for more than 25,000 otolaryngology patients and over 38,000 communication enhancement patients in Boston and at our five
suburban clinic sites. Our surgical team performs more than 6,000 surgical procedures.
Key responsibilities:- Working in a fast-paced specialty clinic caring for surgical and medical illnesses of varying levels of complexity.
- Rotating primarily between the Boston, Waltham and Needham ORL clinics, and other satellites as needed.
- Providing patient care in the ORL Clinic, including assisting with ambulatory ORL procedures.
- Answering and triaging calls from patients and families.
- Providing pre-operative and post-operative evaluations for patients with patients/families.
- Working 4- 10 hour shifts Mon-Fri rotating between Boston, Waltham and Needham clinics.
Minimum qualifications:
Education:- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Experience:- A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (pediatrics preferred).
- Experience with tracheostomies and general airway management preferred.
