About the role

The Origination Analyst is a key strategic front office position within the central Marketing & Origination team in the Supply, Trading and Shipping organization. This position reports to the Commercial Manager for rptA (Refining and Products Trading Americas) in Chicago. The role’s core responsibility includes supporting origination in rptA - including implementation of NAIs as well as all stages of a deal. The role will work with central M&O as well as the trading benches in the region to support cross commodity growth.

rptA views this role as a natural talent pipeline for those interested in pursuing a longer-term career in the front office. The desire to learn, be proactive, and develop relationships with the originators and traders, as well as functions, is highly valued within candidates for the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive origination support to our central M&O team - from prospecting to post-contract customer service ensuring origination opportunities support trading strategies.
  • Support the Originators to create a pipeline of opportunities at different stages of development while ensuring delivery of priority deals; run and maintain forward deal pipeline in Salesforce Customer Relationships Manager (CRM).
  • Provide excellent support for our customers and take lead to resolve operational and administrative issues.
  • Perform and deliver market and customer research and insights to support delivery of the bench strategy.
  • Responsible for organizing and managing events like customer meetings and conferences bringing professionalism to bp’s representation at these functions.
  • Provide input into originated deal structures and terms to improve benefits for bp.
  • Provide support to the commercial teams during the Assurance & Approval process to facilitate selection of the best growth opportunities for bp.
  • Support originators with the implementation of commercial opportunities into the bench portfolio from inception through project management and operation, guiding relevant resources throughout the process, and ensuring successful commercial delivery.
  • Maintain working relationships with commercial and enabler teams from across bp to ensure successful delivery of the commercial agenda and proactively manage and mitigate risks and issues.
  • Support functional assurance process to identify risks, risk mitigations, and support go-live activities.
  • Growth commercial acumen by supporting market analysis requests and financial modeling for projects.
  • Serve as a key interface between Trading and other support functions (e.g. Contracts, Settlements, CDD, Legal).
  • Develop a clear understanding of all sources of value
  • Drive continuous improvement to streamline and simplify processes

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong communicator, able to clearly and concisely articulate complex subjects both written and verbally
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with wide range of customers and partners
  • Self-starter and desire to take responsibility
  • Problem solving skills/logical thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure, and demonstrates quick thinking
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and strict deadlines

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well internally and externally (third-parties) in line with BP’s V&Bs
  • Experience with bp deal entry systems

How much do we pay (Base) ($98,000 - $182,000) *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position is eligible for US Benefits – Core. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
