Experience:

• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Pediatric Medical Surgical Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.

• Travel experience is required from any number of months.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Medical declinations accepted.

Float experience does not count towards the unit experience requirement.

Areas of Float Support: Other General Care/Med-Surg areas: general med-surg, Neuroscience, HemOnc, inpatient rehab, overflow, medical-psychiatric (med-surg unit)

Top 10 Diagnosis/Procedures: General medical-surgical. Chronic complex care patients. Specialties include renal/nephrology, post-operative spinal fusion, telemetry. Medical surgical patients include: asthma, bronchiolitis (NP suction, oxygen delivery from face mask, NC, up to HFNC on pathway), pneumonia, FTT, chronic-complex cerebral palsy/developmental delay (typical chronic complex patient is resident of pediatric skilled nursing facility w CP, developmental delay, impaired mobility, GT fed, admitted for viral illness/dehydration). GI patients with short-gut/Crohn’s, overflow medical patients w mental health/SI (post suicide attempt/pharm-ingestion, typical acetadote continuous infusion post tylenol over dose), common post-surgical care patients includ tonsill/aden, appendectomy, GT placement/takedown.

Any special procedure done on the unit: Telemetry, strict I/O, lab monitoring, Drains;Feeding Tubes (NG/GT/PEG); Gastric decompression tubes (Salem sump) to suction/gravity;PCA Pumps;PICC/Central Lines;Port-A-Cath/Vascula Device Access/Care;Syringe Pumps;Traction/Halo/Pin Care;Wound Vac. Suction/Oxygen delivery. Trach care. Intermittent chest tube management.

What’s the length of time of orientation: 1 administrative edu day, 2 orientation shifts with RN

What is the orientation process: 1 week upon arrival; will schedule EMR class in addition to the 1 week.

7 days maximum time off
