Summary

This position will work in our Corvallis location, supported by a team of 3 additional social workers who work with patients at other clinic locations. This position is critical to moving patients through their psychosocial barriers and through treatment. They cover the patient panel for 4 MD's and 2 APP's. This position also leads 1-2 support group for the Samaritan Cancer Program.

  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Provides social work services including psychosocial assessments, brief patient/family counseling, support, resources & education intervention to meet the standards of the patient/family & ensure continuity of care.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The Hematology & Oncology teams at Samaritan Health Services specialize in diagnosing and treating adult cancer patients using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and biological therapy as well as treating a range of hematologic conditions. We educate patients about their illness, the treatment options and provide supportive care during treatment and into survivorship.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • Oregon LMSW (Masters-level Social Worker) or CSWA (Clinical Social Work Associate) licensure required.
    • Oregon LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) preferred.
    • Experience as a social worker in a hospital or medical setting preferred.

    • Time Management- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
    • Social Perceptiveness - Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
