JOB SUMMARY: Under medical direction, the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist provides treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation and care to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities with the cardio-pulmonary system. Assists with the daily clinical duties involved in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and provides safe patient care, clinical supervision, guidance and education to patients and families who participate in the program. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Specialist will also train in Pulmonary Function Testingwhere they will perform pulmonary diagnostic testing at a high level of proficiency, such as spirometry, lung volumes, flow volume loops, single breath diffusing capacity, metabolic measurements, arterial punctures to assist physicians in both the diagnosis and in guiding therapy of patients with pulmonary disorders.
REQUIREMENTS:
Formal working knowledge. Equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field.
Education: Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience: 3-5 years
Licenses:
- Respiratory Care Practitioner License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license
- Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Preferred: Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist
Certification:American Heart Association CPR Certification, ACLS, BLS Certification, Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner Licensure, CRT/RRT by National Board for Respiratory Care.
