Overview:
As a Clinic Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Surgery Center, you’ll be an essential part of a collaborative, patient-focused team dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality care. In this outpatient setting, you’ll use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, while ensuring patients and their families are actively engaged in every step of their healthcare journey.
You’ll coordinate care across departments, advocate for patient rights, and maintain confidentiality with professionalism and compassion. Your role includes developing personalized care plans, identifying and documenting educational needs, and supporting seamless communication through tools like SBAR during patient handoffs. You’ll participate in physician rounding, contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration, and stay current with certifications, policies, and evidence-based practices.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, you’ll support continuous improvement efforts, mentor support staff within their scope of practice, and promote a culture of learning and excellence. Every interaction is an opportunity to reflect Mercy’s mission, values, and commitment to exceptional care.
Qualifications:
Education:Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program.
Licensure:Current RN license in the state of practice or compact licensure, meeting all state board of nursing requirements.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (or completion within 30 days of hire).
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit or role, including but not limited to:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP, ENPC, TNCC, CPHON, OCN, PEARS, S.T.A.B.L.E., C-EFM
Experience:Clinical experience preferred; unit-specific experience may be required.

- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to bend, kneel, twist, squat, and reach as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting
- Additional certifications relevant to the assigned unit or specialty
