Job Summary and Qualifications
The Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator works with trauma program leadership to coordinate all aspects of the department’s Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program. The PI Coordinator will review the continuum of care to determine compliance with practice management guidelines, policies and procedures, and established standards of care.
What you will do in this role:
- Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
- Maintain the Trauma PI database to ensure adequate documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
- Complete concurrent review of cases to identify quality, timelines and systems of care to meet state standards.
- Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physicians caring for trauma patients.
- Serve as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for trauma patients.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in ED and/or ICU (required)
- Previous experience as a Trauma Nurse Coordinator (preferred)
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- BLS/BCLS requiredper St. David’s HealthCare policy.
- ALS/ACLSrequiredwithin 90 days of hire per St. David’s HealthCare policy.
- Current certification as a TNCC Provider. (Instructor Preferred or completed within one year of hire)
- Current certification as a Provider in either PALS or ENPC (Instructor Preferred) or within 90 days of hire required per St. David’s HealthCare policy.
- Certified in specialty area is preferred
