Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
• 24 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
• Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.
• Trauma Level 1 experience is required from any number of months
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Additional Details:
Evening/Night, Variable 8/12 hour shifts, Monday-Friday and every other weekend between the hours 1900-0730.
Must have experience working in different Med/Surg units (cardiac, spine, neuro).
Floating experience preferred.
Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.
Traveler will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start.
Float across multiple departments and specialties caring for complex and dynamic patient populations in a variety of both medical and surgical general care units and intermediate care (IMC) units.
Floating - Travelers are the first. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the traveler’s assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract.
Other transportation options are available: bus, park & ride, private parking, etc.

Orientation Hours: 36
Orientation Schedule: UWH orientation is held every other week – typically on a Monday, but not all travelers will start on a Monday even if the contract has a Monday start. This is due to department specific orientation schedules. Travelers should follow the start date and time listed in their welcome letter and department schedule. Travelers will orient at 600 Highland Ave, room F8/170 (subject to change – traveler should follow instructions in welcome letter). Orientation is typically about one week. Additional details within the orientation section of this guide.
Will float to Neuro ICU, CT ICU, Burn, Trauma, MSICU, IMC- Progressive unit
RTO Requirements: Manager will review/approve during candidate review process. Generally, no more than 2 weeks off in a contract. If the request is more than 1 week and is consecutive (no hours in the week), Vaya will add 1 week at the end of the contract. Generally, all job postings will state that weekend rotations and some holidays will be required. Some units are stricter than others regarding holidays (ED allows for 1 holiday off).
A telemetry exam will be required prior to start. The following criteria must be met in two attempts:
- Adult Exam:
- 100% identification of lethal rhythms: Ventricular fibrillation,
ventricular tachycardia, asystole
- No incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
[1 incorrect answer will cause failure]
- Passing score of 80% or higher
- Pediatric Exam
- Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and
sinus bradycardia
- Passing score of 80% or higher
Attempts: Traveler will have two attempts to pass. If the individual does not pass on the second attempt their contract may be cancelled. If the traveler fails the second attempt they will submit a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course to Vaya before a third attempt will be assigned. If the traveler does not pass after three attempts Vaya will notify recruitment of the results. Recruitment will notify the hiring manager that the traveler’s assignment will be cancelled.
Competency Renewal: Travelers need to have an active telemetry competency on file per calendar
Current/valid Drivers License required if driving is requirement of the position. Drivers License/State ID.
14 days maximum time off
