Job Description:
Role Synopsis
The pipeline controller Trainer will deliver technical training in accordance with BP Terminals and Pipelines’ (T&P) and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to:
oT&P Controller Skills Curriculum
oUS Department of Transportation (DOT) Control Room Management (CRM) and Operator Qualification (OQ) Programs
oFederal and state HSSE related training
oBP required training
You will Work with BP Learning and Development (L&D) team to:
oDevelop and implement Controller Phase 2 training, including OTS (simulator) development and integration
o Find opportunities for improvement and/or standard processes to continuously improve training and learning effectiveness
oDevelop and implement curriculum improvements and/or new training programs/delivery methods
oDevelop and implement annual training program plans
oLeverage other BP and/or external resources to deliver required training
Key Accountabilities
- Implement multiple methods of training delivery including hands-on demonstration, one on one, large classroom and remote via Teams or like platform
- Conduct competency assessments via written tests and hands-on simulator evaluations in accordance with OQ Program and Controller Skills Curriculum requirements
- Track Controller Skills Curriculum progress and work with Operations Team Leads and L&D to schedule and execute training/assessments/checkoffs in accordance with Skills Curriculum requirements
- Track controller OQ progress and work with Operations Team Leads and L&D to schedule and execute training/testing/practical assessments to ensure 100% compliance with OQ regulatory requirements
- Coordinate, deliver and track controller block training
- Serve as the single point of contact for Operations personnel regarding Controller Skills Curriculum, OQ and/or training related questions
- Complete professional development training to achieve or maintain required competence/qualifications if necessary
- Actively participate in the T&P OQ and Evergreen Committees
- Work with Learning Management System administrator to ensure proper documentation is maintained
Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years’ pipeline controller experience
Previously achieved or currently possess DOT Controller OQs
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years pipeline controller experience
Previous training/trainer experience
Knowledge of US DOT pipeline safety regulations, including OQ and CRM requirements
