Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
House Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and coordinating intradepartmental and interdepartmental functioning of the hospital.
Responsible for the direction, supervision, coordination, and evaluation of nursing performance and activities related to the care and treatment of patients within the hospital on a specific shift. Assists One Call Center, as needed with the assignments of patients to specific units within the hospital. Assigns nursing staff to specific clinical areas within the hospital to meet patient care needs. Acts as the official representative of the management and administrative staff of the hospital in their absence.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Evaluates, plans and coordinates staffing activities:
Assesses personnel needs based on census, acuity, and the special needs of each unit
Adjusts staffing by reassigning staff, assigning PRN and agency personnel and coordinating overtime Communicates and collaborates with unit Charge Nurses, Supervisors, and/or Directors to assure appropriate staff coverage
Prioritizes clinical rounds to evaluate ongoing staff needs, and if necessary, identifies additional measures to provide assistance.
Completes staffing related paperwork completely and accurately
Facilitates patient throughput and patient flow
Rounds on all patients with a Discharge Order greater than 2 hours
Conducts Bed Board meetings with Unit Charge Nurses/Supervisors on a regular basis to coordinate patient throughput and staffing needs Responds to ALL Emergency Codes within the hospital. Communicates with Medical Examiner, Organ Donation agencies, Police and Fire departments
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Graduate of an NLN Accredited School of Nursing
Minimum of five (5) years of Clinical Practice, three (3) which have been as a Charge Nurse or similar management role
Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree from an NLN Accredited School of Nursing
1-2 years’ experience as House Supervisor
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current BLS
Required: ACLS, certification in area of specialty, per facility requirements
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to: Administrative Director of Nursing
