Role Summary:

The Field Service Valve Technician is responsible for performing control valve repairs, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning in both field and workshop environments. This role involves working with a variety of valve product lines, including Flowserve (Valtek, Kammer, Argus, Valbart, Durco) and competitor brands (Fisher, Masoneilian, Samson). The Field Service technician will also provide customer support, mentor junior technicians, and assist engineering teams with failure evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and reassembly of control valves following work orders, drawings, and procedures.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing using SoftTools, Profiler, ValveSight, FAST Test, or StarTalk XP.
  • Independently commission, configure, troubleshoot, and repair Flowserve and competitor valve product lines.
  • Provide technical support to customers via phone and on-site visits.
  • Conduct factory and field testing of valves and positioners, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Utilize and interpret results from digital communication protocols (HART, MODBUS, Foundation Fieldbus).
  • Operate precision measuring instruments (micrometers, verniers) and hand tools (hydraulic torque wrenches, fire torches).
  • Assist with training programs for customers, sales teams, and Flowserve employees.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and collaborate with engineering on failure evaluations.
  • Support the assembly department when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and use of required PPE.
  • Maintain detailed service reports and documentation.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders and working around large equipment outdoors.
  • An active driver’s license with a good driving record is essential to the role.
  • Able to travel, including regionally, for extended periods of time
  • Steady travel around 50 to 75% depending on business needs, with overnight stays as required

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with control valves and related equipment.
  • Proficiency in Flowserve valve product lines and competitor brands.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with digital valve communication protocols and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Oracle, LMS, PMP, ISOquest, SharePoint, and FlexDash.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on quality and deadlines.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a technical school.
  • Experience conducting training programs for control valves and positioners.
  • Workshop experience in valve assembly and testing.
