ChristianaCare is hiring a part-time, Registered Dietitian for their nutrition services department in Newark, DE.

As a Registered Dietitian, you would serve as an integral member of the Nutrition Services and Weight Management Center teams by providing in-depth assessments, care plans, counseling and follow-up to ensure that appropriate nutritional services and education are provided.

This position is also heavily involved in our community, where you would be on-site at 2 different schools for 2 days/week in Middletown, DE.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs in-depth nutritional assessments for patients at risk of or with a chronic disease

  • Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret scientific information to identify age-specific needs and to provide the appropriate care and education

  • Effectively communicates an evaluates diet history data through computer analysis

  • Demonstrates skill and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.

  • Participates as an integral part of the healthcare team by making appropriate referrals and by coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Provides individual counseling and group education

  • Maintains medical records according to HIPPA guidelines and third-party billing guidelines.

  • Assists with the development of policies, procedures and programs for the Metabolic Health Services, practice based and school-based programs.

  • Assists in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement activities.

  • Participates in the development and evaluation of nutrition and chronic disease education materials appropriate for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Design and present clinically accurate innovative presentations for other health care professionals and the community

  • Participates in inter-disciplinary team meetings and patient care

  • Reviews, evaluates, and utilizes current nutrition and chronic disease management research

  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

  • 30 hours/week

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.

  • Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) required.

  • Master’s Degree required after graduating in 2024, as required by Commission on Dietetic Registration.

  • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) preferred or commitment to obtain within 2 years as necessary.
