This position will be responsible for leading and managing the Architectural Paint Commercialization Engineering (CE) team. This position is accountable for contributing to and/or leading Engineering support for New Product Development, Maintenance of Business, Continuous Process Improvement, 6-sigma, and Quality Investigation projects.

Key responsibilities with limited to moderate supervision and input:
• Define the goals, roles, and responsibilities of the GSC Architectural Paint Commercialization Engineering team
• Lead a team of engineers with technical expertise in the commercialization engineering process
• Primary management responsibility for Commercialization Engineering support for Architectural Paint NPD and MOB
• Support and/or provide leadership of Continuous Improvement Projects related to the GSC Commercialization process
• Partner with Commercialization management peers to coordinate project support, problem solving efforts and drive continuous improvement initiatives
1. Leadership
• Management responsibility for Architectural Paint CE team projects, ensuring proactive identification of issues and driving issues to full resolution.
• Support alignment of departmental activities to deliver on strategic goals for CE and the Company.

2. Business Management
• Effectively manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently, on time and meets objectives.
• Hold project teams accountable for setting and meeting project deadlines that meet the needs of the business with effective planning and execution.
• Partner with Supervisor to prioritize projects and allocate resources to drive projects.
• Identify and understand project issues, their business impact within the department associated with the risk. Determine and recommend best alternative course of action with limited to moderate support.
3. Employee and Team Development
• Grow and develop the Team professionally and technically by actively utilizing and engaging in Professional Development Plans with all employees
• Effectively utilize delegation and stretch assignments to grow the Team’s technical leadership capacity
• Recommend resources and allocations
• Facilitate open sharing of knowledge and ideas to promote employee engagement.
• Conduct formal performance reviews and address performance concerns with limited to moderate support.
4. Communication
• Communicate/interface with R&D, Operations, and other R&D departments and divisions.
• Provide clear written and verbal communication of team and project related info to key stakeholders and management.
• Effectively utilize delegation and stretch assignments to grow the team’s technical and business communication capacity
• Clear and effective communication of projects and deliverables to team.
5. Safety and Quality
• Ensure and reinforce Safety, Housekeeping, and ISO practices.
• Actively seek to support and improve overall safety through proper training and implementation of corrective actions as necessary.
• Support continuous improvement of commercialization processes with a focus on balancing quality and speed to market.
BASIC QUALIFICATION:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (“STEM”) field
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Must have at least 1 year of supervisory or project management experience in R&D
• Must have at least 3 years of relevant experience within R&D and with coatings development (formulation, processing, testing)
• Demonstrated successful technical and professional mentorship
• Demonstrated successful project team leadership
• Demonstrated effective communication with cross functional stakeholders in high-stakes situations
• Proven problem solving and decision-making skills and abilities
• Willingness to flex work location between Northeast Ohio based R&D locations (Breen Technology Center, Warrensville Technical Center and Brecksville facility when necessary)
Preferred:
• Experience managing R&D employees
• Experience with Architectural, Building Materials, Aerosol and/or Woodcare products
• Experience in Commercialization or Commercialization Engineering
• Experience leading large project teams, and/or complex projects from concept through launch
• Experience working with Operations, Procurement, and/or Sourcing to support new product launches or resolve quality issues
• Design for Six Sigma Certified or Trained
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 20%
Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in 2025. Until then, the role will be based atBreen Technology Center, located at 601 Canal Road, Cleveland, OH 44113.
