Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience is required with some in the last 24 months.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
• BSN completion preferred
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a District of Columbia license (required for submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <60 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• Flu vaccination required after submission. Declinations not accepted.

Additional Details:
References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Ortho/MS/TELE
1.5 - 2 years of acute care travel experience required
Unit Accepts 1st time Traveler
Minimum 4 years nursing experience if first time traveler
Call Req: yes, In turn with unit staff
Weekend Requirement: Every Other weekend; 50% weekends required
Float requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.
Patient Diagnoses: Orthopedics: Primary total joint (hip and knee) replacement, revision of total joint replacement, spine surgery, ankle replacement, total shoulder replacement
Other: The patient population is mostly surgical patient overflow, but many have other comorbidities and may be followed by the medicine team or other specialty teams during their stay.
Scrubs: Any color without hospital logos; not provided by unit
Previous Charge Experience: Preferred

Special Equipment: PCA pumps, Epidural and Perineural PCA pumps, Ketamine, Lidocaine infusions for pain management,
High Risk Drips: Heparin, Continuous Pulse Oximetry
Return Staff Policy If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.
7 days maximum time off
2 references from last 3 years (Manager/Supervisor reference type) - required for submission
