Job Summary and Qualifications
Job Summary:
The cardiac rehabilitation nurse is a registered nurse who possesses advanced knowledge and skill in the area of cardiac nursing. Makes decisions of moderate difficulty. Handles confidential information regarding patient records. Operates and analyzes telemetry cardiac monitors, exercise equipment and patient evaluation tools. May be required to make critical decisions concerning the initiative of emergency medical procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
LEVEL OF FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an approved school for registered nurses and current license to practice nursing in the state of Texas.
LICENSED/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED ___X___YES_____NO
LIST: Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must:
• apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire
• obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license.
- BLS required per St. David’s policy
- ALS/ACLS per St. David’s policy is preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimal 2 years experience as a RN with 1-2 years experience working with cardiac patients, preferably on a telemetry unit or coronary care unit. Has been directly involved in education to the patient with coronary heart disease including myocardial infarction, coronary artery bypass surgery and angina and has some knowledge regarding the effects of exercise on the cardiovascular system.
