Job Description
We are in search of an Elementary Substitute Teacher for Salvaggio Academy. This is an as needed, substitute, onsite position in Allentown, PA. This position is for the 2025-2026 school year which begins in August.
Salvaggio Academy, a private school in Allentown, Pennsylvania, provides a nurturing and academically rigorous environment for our students. We pride ourselves on our close-knit community, personalized attention, and commitment to fostering a love of learning. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-time Substitute Teacher to join our team and make a positive impact on our students’ educational journey.
Hours vary by week with core school hours being Monday-Friday 8 am – 4 pm.
What You’ll Do
Provide high-quality instruction to students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher in the nursery through 5th grade.
Implement lesson plans left by the regular teacher and create engaging and effective lessons as needed.
Manage classroom behavior and create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Assess student performance and provide feedback to help students achieve their academic goals.
Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff about student progress and any concerns.
Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Follow school policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
What You’ll Need
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Elementary Education
Strong knowledge of elementary concepts and teaching methods
Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with educational technology and tools
Preferred:
Mission driven mindset
Creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Prior teaching experience at the elementary level is highly desirable
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
