Position Overview
The Staff Development and Infection Control Nurse (RN) is responsible forassisting the Director of Health Services and Assistant Director of Health Services by conducting in-service training classes that provide instructionson infection control procedures to ensure a well-educated nursing service department.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Key Responsibilities
- Develop in-service training programs for the nursing staff and ensure that these programs meet the continuing education requirements that allow licensed personnel (e.g., RNs, LPNs, CNAs, etc.) to keep their license/certificationactive and current.
- Maintain active Infection Control programsto ensure that nursing service personnel follow established infection control procedures when isolation precautions become necessary.
- Serve on, participate in, and attendvarious committees of the facility (i.e., Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Pharmaceutical, Budget, Quality Assessment and Assurance, etc.) as required or as appointed by the DHS and/or the Executive Director.
- Make daily rounds of the nursing service department(s) to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
- Complete review of fridge temps, FirstDose room temps BID, completion of crash cart audits, Infection Control rounding, fall intervention check, med carts, HIPPA violations, TSS, med rooms.
- Administer employee vaccinations and maintainaccurate records.
- Provide patient care as needed and participate in campus on-call rotation based on campus schedule.
Qualifications
- Must have and maintain a current, valid state RN license
- Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
- Wound Care Certification (WCC)
- Infection Preventionist certification
- Current, valid CPR certification required
- Hours 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
