- Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees, and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.
Responsibilities- The Mental Health Technician with assist with care and observe mentally ill patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. This includes grooming needs and observation of any abnormal behavioral or physical signs.
- Orient patients to unit and developed rapport with patients, family members, and significant others
- Assists in admitting, monitoring, and providing therapeutic activities as appropriate
- Provide a safe patient environment by responding to patient needs and communicating with the Registered Nurse or Licensed Clinical Social Worker immediately for any change in patient’s condition
- Provides direct hygiene and comfort care to patients, including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinent care, and bed making
- Perform and document vital signs, patient weights under the direction of the Registered Nurse, as appropriate on flow sheets, and notify the Registered Nurse of the results
- Perform and document glucose finger sticks and collect other specimens, including stool, urine, and sputum
- Handled 1:1 direct observation as needed to monitor safety for a suicidal/homicidal patient
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned
QualificationsJob Requirements:
- High school diploma.
- 2+ years of relevant work and/or personal experience with the seriously mentally ill or individuals with emotional behavior disorders.
- BLS certification.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
- Previous mental health work experience in an acute care facility.
- 1 year of direct patient care experience.
Pay Range Minimum: $16.64/Hr.
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
