What this job involves: At our Wheeling facility, we are seeking a dedicated. Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing repairs and preventive maintenance on Strapper/Banders equipment and occasionally on MHE equipment like forklifts. You'll handle mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs throughout our facility, conduct regular inspections, and perform interior maintenance tasks such as drywall repairs, painting, and office furniture repairs. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining safe and efficient operations by addressing maintenance issues promptly, documenting work orders, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Perform repairs on Strapper/Banders equipment including preventive maintenance, including MHE equipment (forklifts) at times.
  • Performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other installed systems, equipment, and other components.
  • Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
  • General interior maintenance – hang pictures, drywall repairs, painting, install keyboard trays, repair office furniture systems and repair doors.
  • Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment and/or as directed
  • Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested
  • Other tasks as assigned
  • Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
  • Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
  • Maintain compliance to the State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
  • Must complete all required safety training as scheduled
  • Comply with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Update work order status in real time
  • Utilize work order systems for all work performed.
  • Perform Equipment Safety Inspections.
  • Escalating problems or issues to Customer and Manager in a timely manner
  • Attend work and safety meetings as required
  • All other duties and tasks assigned

Work Schedule:

Working Sunday-Thursday from 7PM-3:30AM (with 10% shift premium)

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:

  • Experience with industrial equipment repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Experience with MHE equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with work order management systems
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Communication skills to effectively report issues and status updates
  • Experience in a distribution center or manufacturing environment

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and pull up to 50lbs
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance requirements
  • Basic understanding of maintenance systems and procedures
  • Ability to recognize and address safety hazards
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
