Position Summary/Department Summary:As the first and largest pediatric sports medicine practice in the country, the Sports Medicine Division at Boston Children’s Hospital provides athletes of all ages the care they need to reach their athletic potential. We are seeking a full time Ortho/Sports Medicine social worker for our Waltham location.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing clinical social work services to assist patients and families with personal, family, medical and environmental difficulties.
- Performing psychosocial and risk assessments, assigning diagnoses and developing and implementing interventions and treatment plans.
- Participating in planning and implementation of discharge and outpatient service plans and collaborating with health care team and community agencies to plan, implementing and following up on treatment and provision of needed services.
- Serving as a member of the interdisciplinary team to plan and implement patient care, assisting in program development and participating in continuous quality improvement efforts of the service.
- Providing consultation and teaching to interdisciplinary team members on psychosocial issues and specific patient needs.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:- A master’s degree in social work
Experience:- Minimum of 2 years of social work experience
- Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential.
- Strong clinical skills and experience with various therapeutic modalities
- Previous pediatric medical social work experience is preferred; ortho experience a plus
