The Operating Engineer supports operation, inspection and maintenance processes to mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems.

JLL is hiring an Operating Engineer to join the Engineering team at Pennzoil Place. This Class A building provides interesting and challenging work and an opportunity to work with a great team.

Schedule:Shifts vary and will rotate monthly between 5 other Engineers.

  • Daytime shifts (7am-4pm or 8am-5pm)
  • Evening and graveyard shifts (1pm-10pm or 6pm-3am)
  • Weekend shifts (Friday through Monday, 6am-4pm)

Compensation: $27-29/hour

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Complete assigned tasks that include but are not limited to: painting, pressure washing, cleaning, maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts (as allowed by any licensing requirements), plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, hanging pictures, repair office furniture, locksmith work and general maintenance
  • Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete any tenant service requests
  • Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment, and other materials as requested
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance and inspection tasks
  • Support on-call or emergency response situations (if applicable)
  • Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls
  • Comply with all safety procedures
  • Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
  • Other projects and tasks to be assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • 3+ years of related work experience, especially in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry
  • Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
  • Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)
  • City of Houston Stationary license (3rd or higher)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall
  • Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive
  • Strong customer service skills
