Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing the registration process for areas reporting to Patient Access. This is inclusive of assuring data quality, providing end user support, guidance, and problem solving. Audits insurance verifications and recommends revisions to avoid third party reimbursement rejections; coordinates training.

Responsibilities include:

Demonstrates flexibility to manage by the Department by working additional hours. Supports areas during peak times and performs job functions as needed for staff members who are sick, on vacation for FMLA leave.

Supervises the Admitting patient interaction in the pre-registration and registration processes, and the point-of-service collection functions.

Ensures pre-registration functions are completed with proper lead time prior to service. Prints and reconciles OR schedules to ensure that all scheduled admissions are completed for upcoming visits. Ensures the timely and accurate work of internal staff and external agency, such that collections are maximized. Ensures adherence to Medicare compliance rules, including Medicare Secondary Payer policies. Ensures registration staff is appropriately collecting point-of-service copays and deductibles via HP24.

Collaborates with Professional Billing Office, Patient Accounting, Information Services, other Hospital departments and external parties. Coordinates with external parties (particularly HMOs) to proactively resolve third party payer issues that are impacting the Hospital’s ability to bill accounts. Keeps Departmental Manager apprised of such activity.

Ensures appropriate hiring, as well as providing a welcoming and supporting environment for new team members.

Manages the performance and development of individuals and teams.

This position is in the weekly on-call rotation.

Experience: Formal working knowledge; requires knowledge of specialized field.

Required: 3-5 years

Education: Associate's Degree, Preferred
