ChristianaCare is hiring a full time Registered Dietitian for our specialty practices in at our Union Campus in Elkton, MD.

The role involves managing diabetes patients, providing education, and coordinating services in an Endocrinology specialty practice, including gestational diabetic patients, and adhering to American Diabetes Association guidelines and recommendations for the Christiana Care Endocrinology Living with Diabetes program.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills for adult and geriatric diabetes patients.

  • Identifies and interprets patient needs and provides necessary care.

  • Provides information on the plan of care, including diagnosis, medications, treatment, tests, diet, etc.

  • Provides education on diet management, weight loss management, dietary management, and pregnant patients.

  • Executes Diabetes Disease Management as per American Diabetes Association Guidelines.

  • Monitors patient glycemic control and adjusts treatments according to American Diabetes Association guidelines.

  • Maintains records for American Diabetes Association recognition. Collaborates with Endocrinology physicians and nurse practitioners on diabetes patient care issues.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of CCHS policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates sound knowledge and application of information technology tools.

  • Promotes and participates in performance improvement activities.

  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to departmental safety rules and practices.

Qualifications:

  • A Registered Dietitian, eligible for certification in Maryland with a Master’s degree in nutrition or a closely related field, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in nutrition outreach, counseling and group education related to chronic diseases; OR;

  • A registered dietitian, eligible for certification in Maryland with at least 5 years’ experience in nutrition outreach, counseling and group education related to chronic diseases.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
